Hike to the Ruhrquelle

Discover the source of the Ruhr, the almost 220 km long river that gives its name to an entire conurbation before flowing into the Rhine at Duisburg-Ruhrort.

From our Hotel Schneider, walk down the Waltenberg to the market square. Turn right past the Neue Mitte and walk down Bahnhofstraße until you leave the station behind you. Then turn right into Orkestraße . At the end of Orkestraße, cross the road and take the footpath that runs to the right above the road. From here, follow the signposted Rothaarsteig (white R on a red background) for approx. 40 minutes until you finally reach the Ruhrquelle.
