Schmantelrundweg and Molbeckerundweg

A hike along the Schmantelrundweg and the Molbeckerundweg is ideal if you are looking for a beautiful and easy circular route in Winterberg. Along the way, you can enjoy wonderful views of the Orketal valley towards Elkeringhausen and the Schlossberg near Küstelberg.

From our Hotel Schneider, walk down the Waltenberg towards the market square. Cross the square and walk straight ahead up the main street into Wernsdorfer Straße. At house no. 35, continue around a bend until you turn left into Schmantelrundweg before the next bend. After a short time, a beautiful view opens up into the valley of the village of Elkeringhausen and the rolling mountains of the Hochsauerland.

Follow the Schmantelrundweg until you come to a refuge , after which you turn left onto the Hesborner Weg. After around 70 meters, leave this path again and turn right onto the Molbeckerundweg, the second part of the hike. Enjoy the walk through the Molbecke nature reserve until you arrive back in the urban area and turn right into the street "Auf der Wallme".

When this crosses Kapellstraße, turn left downhill and then right past the Volksbank until you reach the market square again.

If you want to shorten the route a little, turn right at the refuge instead of left and follow Hesborner Weg until you reach Kapellenstraße. Follow this road downhill until you reach Poststraße in the town center. This leads off to the right past the Volksbank to Winterberg's market square.
